Tom Thomson, Moose, 11x14
$50
Tom Thomson (1877-1917) One of Canada's best known artists and a member of the famed Group of Seven, produced an astonishing body of work in his five year career. He is most known for his paintings of the Northern Ontario landscape. When Dr James MacCallum, professor at the University of Toronto and staunch patron and supporter of Thomson first saw his 1912 sketches of Algonquin Park, he recognozed their "truthfulness...they made me feel that the North had gripped Thomson". Whenever I see Thomson's work I feel quite gripped myself. I also recognize that messy riot of color as one of the best representations of where my heart lives.
