Welcome!

I am not an artist, but I’ve always loved art. It’s one of the things I’ve always spent disposable income on. It’s something I’ve always required for optimal brain happiness in my living spaces. And at some point, in the last several years, without even fully realizing it, I crossed over from being an art “buyer” to an art “Collector”.

That doesn’t mean I began frequenting stuffy galleries or exclusive auctions and acquiring pieces of art with coronary inducing price tags. I don’t have the inclination or the budget for that type of habit. I did, however, find myself moving away from the insomnia fueled, 2am impulse buys on Art.com. After years of scrolling through thousands of images, I was finally starting to figure out what I liked enough to want to own, and the online, “big box” art storefronts probably were not the place to find it.

I don’t mean to disparage websites like Art.com or iCanvas. If you are looking for a high-quality print of “Starry Night” at a cheap price, you can’t beat sites like that. However, if you want a Margaret Preston or Armin Landeck print, you’re probably going to need to search elsewhere to find them.

Here’s the other thing – I probably don’t need to tell anyone that “Starry Night” is one of Van Gogh’s paintings, because it’s one of the most recognizable pieces of art by one of the most famous artists of all time. But how many people have ever heard of Margaret Preston? Or Armin Landeck? Or John Savio? Or Mabel Dwight? Or Ernest Berke? Or Alfredo Rodriguez? Or Elizabeth Catlett? Or Wanda Gag? I could go on, but the point is there are countless artists, many of whom have already passed away, with tremendous bodies of work that relatively few people know about.

My hope with this project is to not only shine some light on these lesser-known artists but also help make quality art accessible to anyone. Art shouldn’t be intimidating or exclusive to only a privileged few. Art is for everyone, and even if it takes some time to discover your personal preferences, it can be a whole lot of fun along the way.

Due to the individuality of electronic devices, photos of artwork do not precisely reflect the actual printed colors or dimensions.
