Maxfield Parrish (1870-1966) His signature style was an extraordinary use of light and color. His innovative technique involved the use of numerous layers of glazing applied in an alternating fashion with a pure pigment of bright varnish. The result was an incredibly saturated and mesmerizing effect. Years ago, The San Diego Museum of Art had a Parrish exhibit that I was privileged to see. Those original paintings almost looked like they were backlit. Since then, I've seen artists copy Parrish's technique, but never quite be able to match his ethereal essence. Print is matted and ready for framing.
