What Kind of Art Are You Drawn To?

Link to printable questionnaire

Although I firmly believe finding and choosing art to live with does not need to be an overwhelming and intimidating process, it can often feel that way if you don’t know where and how to look, or if you’re not even quite sure what you’re looking for in the first place.

Also, tastes and preferences can change, sometimes dramatically, depending on the countless events and circumstances that make up a life. You might have wanted the big bold colors of Pol Ledent or Wassily Kandinsky on your walls when you were twenty-five, but now, the muted night scenes of Ray Hendershot are much more appealing. When you were a teenager, you may have thought Mark Rothko’s color field paintings were, like, super dumb. And now, you could stare at them for hours because you can’t figure out how he managed to create something that simultaneously looks so simple and so complicated.

Sometimes though, a person might not have any idea what they like when it comes to art and that can keep them from making any attempt to find out. And while I do realize that art is not important to everyone, some people do live perfectly happy lives without it, if there is anyone out there wanting to add some art to their life but not knowing where to start, I’d love to help you with that. I’ve put together a questionnaire that may not miraculously reveal your perfect artistic pairing, but hopefully it will narrow things down and get you pointed in the right direction.

Over the last couple of decades I’ve gone from buying cheap and unremarkable reproductions at TJ Maxx to somewhat pricey and stunning originals from actual artists at art shows, and I’ve learned a few things along the way. If you’d like help looking for something specific, or just looking in general, let me know. I’d love to help.

Due to the individuality of electronic devices, photos of artwork do not precisely reflect the actual printed colors or dimensions.
